Daily Outfit?

What started off as a simple outfit post in my room turned into photos of me posing in various parts of my room, turned into daily life photos, turned into photos of random objects and me on my rug. I haven't used my camera in a week so I think I go a little carried away. Overall though, these photos display the wonders of my room and how much I'd rather take a bunch of photos than do my homework and work on scholarship applications. enjoy.....xoxo sj.

Daily Outfits: Handmade & Polka Dots

I love sewing. My grandma taught me how to sew when I was about eleven and I've loved making various crafts, hair accessories, aprons, and pillows over the years (I even made my last halloween costume). But I'd never made any real "clothes" clothes. I've drooled over the idea for a while too with an entire sketchbook filled with clothing designs. Still I'd never really made anything besides a tank top. A few weeks ago my best friend Pamela came over with this shorts pattern she got from her grandmother and a pair she made. I loved them! These shorts are the result. They aren't perfect but I (with the great help of Pamela) made them. Let me tell you it wasn't easy. My sewing machine gave out. We forgot steps and had to redo things. It was also my first experience darting (which is NOT fun). Still, I'm pretty proud of them. I can't say I have the desire to make clothes for a living, but it would be great to bring some of my designs to life!
Moral of the story: Grandmothers are awesome because they can teach you how to sew. Two: it's great to have a best friend who shares your interests. Three: try something you've been wanting to do for a while.
Also, making these shorts really makes me appreciate the craftsmanship that goes into handmade items. And me and Pamela agree that we want to become experts so when we have little granddaughters of our own we can pass on the trade.

Friday I'm in Love

You may notice if you read frequently I never post on fridays. I usually take it as my break day and also it's usually the day I spend with Joel. It's our day. And it's always fun and full of laughing and talking and cooking. He's just a great guy and come on, who could resist those freckles?
I added a few outfit details just in case anyone was wondering...
xoxo. hope your weekend is full of love. sj.

Daily Outfit: Best Summer Piece

This vintage romper is arguably my favorite piece of clothing this summer. I had to stop myself from wearing it everyday. I found it, if you’ve been reading for a while you know this, when I was vintage shopping before going to a concert in Austin back in April. I knew it would be great for summer and I was so right. I feel like a beach babe from the 40s. It’s a good feeling.
Since it’s vintage I wanted to pair it with more original things. Such as my new turban. I know some people would say no to the stripes on stripes, but I love them cause it’s like I’m a sailor.  Yes, a sailor.
I also paired the romper with this cute little vintage broche from goodwill and of course my summer shoes (I’m not ashamed. These really are the only shoes I’ve been wearing all summer).
I’m trying to take more outfit photos around home just to look back on after I move. Which is soon. Packing Party!
Hava a magical Wednesday. Xoxo sarah jasmine.

Daily Outfits: My Comfort Zone

I started getting into fashion around 7th grade. In eighth grade I had my own fashion show for my birthday party. Since those years I really have just been immersed in the hobby of fashion and style. My fashion sense is pretty girly. I don't really wear jeans very often and t-shirts make me feel really awkward and uncomfortable. On that note, I wanted to show you what my comfort zone is. On my casual day I can usually be found wearing a maxi skirt or a simple dress. But this outfit is pretty much my go-to outfit for a relaxing day. A leotard, this thrifted maxi skirt, and a simple pair of shoes or heels (yeah I actually enjoy wearing heels). And I'm in minimal, if any, make up with a simple ribbon in my hair, and have no jewelry.
This is my idea of comfort.

On another note, I didn't take very good photos for three reasons. One: It was sooo hot. Two: I spent half the time trying to get a good spinning photo (which I didn't really accomplish because I was on a hill wearing heels). Three: After about 15 minutes the garbage truck came by and I decided I didn't want to be judged by garbagemen while I was taking photos of myself.
Still I've been practicing editing my photos in Photoshop and thanks to this helpful tutorial on ABM the photos that were okay came out looking pretty good.

That's my little story about my comfort zone and these photos. xoxo. sarah jasmine.

Daily Outfit: Messy Hair & Flowers

The basic fact is that I always have messy hair. Thanks to the combination of humidity, curls, and horrible bed head it’s always got poofs and such. Really though, I love it. I used to spend hours trying to get my hair to be perfect and I’ve finally fallen in love with its imperfection.
I’ll share more on my hair in an upcoming post, but anyway… it’s been pretty rainy here in Texas these past few days which would normally be an exciting escape from the heat but of course the humidity is even worse than death. Even still, I love daily outfits and I just couldn’t resist doing one with the bangs I got going on today.
Today it was just me and the tripod. I think these might be some of my most successful poses for an outfit. Of course I still don’t really like showing off my face and smiling, but I’m working on it….
Sorry I keep rambling on different things… Hope your july is sweet so far <3 much love, Sarah.
p.s I also wanted to show off my cute summer sunnies. I got them from modcloth and they are my most favorite sunglasses I’ve ever had!

A Fourth of July Outfit/Restyle

Since summer started I really haven't done any fashion posts. Maybe because it's over a hundred degrees everyday and I start sweating immediately. Maybe it's because my fashion sense lately has been too comfy casual. Who knows. But after restyling a pair of old jeans into these awesome shorts I really wanted to show them off in some photos. So the photos didn't come out perfect but I still love them. It was a little awkward shooting these in front of people but hey, I wanted the scenery. Hopefully these mean more outfit posts in the future, cause I really love and miss those. And I'm also counting this as a restyle...it was a pretty simple one that required paintbrushes and fabric paint with the addition of embroidery thread on the cuffs to add more texture. I love them. They make me proud to be an American.
I really love dressing up for holidays. Do you?

Movie Date!

On Saturday Joel and I went out to see The Avengers. It was soooo good! I can't remember the last time I went to the theaters....it's not super cozy is it? Oh well, despite the uncomfortable seats I had a blast. I absolutely adore movies. I can't wait for this summer when I can watch all the movies I want without having any sense of time management, muahaha. Anyway, here is what I wore...
I really love these heels. I got them at target and I just love them. They are perfect for summer I think!
The skirt is a restyled dress that I will be posting up later. I'm really enjoying this restyle project I just don't have time to edit the photos! But I will make time. I had the best idea on how to turn this skirt into a shirt. I'm so excited to share...
In other news my birthday party is coming up this friday and I'm super nervous/excited/stressed. I love throwing parties but I always at the last minute feel that, "I'm way too in over my head!" feeling. This time around I've planned everything to the T and I'm trying to do a lot of little homemade crafts to make it a little cuter (and cheaper), but of course nothing ever goes exactly as planned. I'm trying to accept that.
I hope your weekend was lovely! xoxo. sarahjazzmine.

Rain Day Outfit

Like my creepy face?
I love the rain. I seldom hear of people who hate the rain anymore. Most people love it nowadays, which is good because rain is AWESOME. So peaceful and beautiful, and such a relief from hot Texas days... Anyway, besides it's beauty I love rain because I love pulling out these awesome rain boots! I got them my freshman year of highschool and I've worn them every rainy day since. I hope they last forever. I also love umbrellas. This umbrella is just perfect with its cute little characters.
Since I love my umbrella and rainboots so much I decided to do a little outfit post. I'm still trying to make Joel develop good photography skills so I dragged him outside to snap these. Poor guy, he was so tired from taking exams, and there I was barking at him, trying to get him to take perfect pictures in the cold rain. I think he should get a medal for that.
Well, it's snuggling and warm tea with cookies time. I think this weather calls for cookies. am I right??
xoxo. sarahjasmine.
