Let's Talk Vinyl

Over the past month I've added three new vinyl albums to my collection. While it is still a small collection (and half of it is She & Him), seeing it grow and getting vinyls with my boyfriend has come to be one of my new favorite little hobbies. Now, why vinyl? I'm not super musically inclined, and though some claim the superiority of the sound quality on vinyl, I really can't tell the difference. I got my record player two years ago as a christmas present from my boyfriend (awesome boyfriend right??).  What I really love about it is the feeling I get listening to my record player. It's not quite so easy to skip tracks, and as accessible as most modern media devices, and I like that. I really focus on enjoying the music and whatever feeling the music gives off more than I do when I'm listening to music off of my computer. If you happen to be considering getting a record player I highly encourage you to do so. However, I don't want to just rush you into that. From my view, here are the pros and cons:

Pros: Vinyls usually come with a downloadable copy of the album so you get the record and the album for your mp3/ it just is cool and has a homey feel to it/ most of them are pretty portable so they can be moved around the house/you can find old records in addition to new ones you buy. It's always great finding awesome old records to add to the collection!

Cons: High initial cost. I recommend not buying a record player cheaper than 80 dollars otherwise the quality and its life expectancy is questionable/ you can't skip tracks very easily on most cheaper record players (though that's not a problem if you have one of the really nice, big expensive ones) so you kind of have to listen to the whole album which isn't bad if you like the whole album/ maintenance. Every once in a blue moon you need to clean your records and record player and maybe switch out the needle to keep it in optimal condition.

Well now that I've out in my two cents about vinyls I hope you enjoy this horrible quality and incredibly mediocre video me and my younger brother made :)

Life On My Phone

This is basically my last month in photos. I love my iphone. It lets me keep so many memories.
Here's a run down:

  • Putting up French posters for French club at school with one of my besties friend.
  • Two of my best friends. I love them so much.
  • A bunch of feet photos on my rug. I'm kind of obsessed with those.
  • Hanging out with friends and getting my bottom braces off :) YAY.
  • Making smiley faces for my brother's lunch and wearing my favorite Moorea Seal ring.
  • My inspiration wall and Joely fixing our car Betsy.
  • Me and Joel setting up an outdoor movie (we've been watching a lot of those) and eating Gelato.
  • Finished making a pair of shoes (they requested Johnny Bravo and it made me so happy), working on my fall art journal, and made this little pillow for my office chair.
  • Finally, drinking mint tea all sick, and stashing cute photos of Joel in my top desk drawer.
I'm so glad it's officially fall now! My current goal: live simply, give greatfully, and stay inspired. Not to mention work hard and create.

Daily Outfit?

What started off as a simple outfit post in my room turned into photos of me posing in various parts of my room, turned into daily life photos, turned into photos of random objects and me on my rug. I haven't used my camera in a week so I think I go a little carried away. Overall though, these photos display the wonders of my room and how much I'd rather take a bunch of photos than do my homework and work on scholarship applications. enjoy.....xoxo sj.

Life At The Moment

It's been a lazy few days as you can probably notice from the quietness here on the blog. Really though, they were days full of thinking, and dreaming, and writing. So much to think about lately. Really it all boils down to me deciding what I really want and what I find really important. It's hard to want my back to school shopping spree when I hear about human trafficking in Sudan or read about horrible diseases than can be cured just by a less greed in the world. I really love crafting and sewing and pretty outfits, but at the end of the day it really all is stuff. And it's not just people I want to be looking after. We were given this beautiful planet in my opinion to take care of it. Not destroy it. So often we take these precious gifts of abundant life for granted. I want to spend my days celebrating the most beautiful aspects of humanity and nature. Focused on more than fashion and yummy organic foods (which are both wonderful trust me), but somedays I want to walk away from that and do something great. I want to travel to South America to admire the great rainforest and or go down to the nearest shelter and help someone. And do even just the little things. Being kind when it's hard. Being humble (which is hard for me because I always have to be right). Or just becoming at peace with myself and what I have. Knowing that I don't have to own the fanciest clothes or the nicest camera. This isn't to make anyone feel guilty or try and say that we're all greedy. I don't believe either of those things. This is just personally thoughts for myself that I wanted to share. No matter what though I do believe that we should all try to be grateful for every day we have.
Anywayyyy,  I guess I've been a bit deep lately especially since my senior photos are tomorrow (eek!).
On another note, today is my best friend Pamela's Birthday !
much love, sj.

My Friends.

A video my friends made for me....enjoy. xoxo.

5.15.2012

I'm sorry about the lack of content over the weekend. Prepare for excuses: mother's day, homework, finals, sewing, birthday party planning (yawn), I think that's about it. This photo is a description of what the inside of my brain looks like right now, (yes I even have chicken printed fabric in there). It's crazy that life can move so fast all at once and I'm trying my best to just breath, drink some sweet Texas tea, and know that I can do it. Just like you can do it. Summer will be here soon enough, and then I can melt into a bath of sheer happiness as I cover myself in fabric and books and globs of sunblock...xoxo. sarah jasmine.

Life at the Moment

Pretty, Healthy Salad
 Experimenting with Henna Tattoos
 Painting Eggs for Easter <3
A growing lip stick obsession...
 New Film!
Things They Carried for English, I've heard good and bad things about this book so let's see how it is...
Life is completely crazy and full of many different things right now but I'm learning to pause and enjoy the moment. I feel that for me right now it is a season of positive growth, creativity, and learning to calm down and just love who I am and where I'm at. It's a good feeling to go to bed to. The only problem is that I'm so busy I haven't had anytime to do anything I want! But, I received some new sewing books, some money, and am really inspired to write, so lets see what this weekend brings...

xoxo. Sarah Jasmine.
p.s- The Sucre Album came out! I've been listening to it and I'm in LOVE. Check it out.
